Why Advertise on Real Rock Radio?

Real Rock Radio is a local, 24-hour Christian music station. Christian listeners are loyal to businesses that advertise on Christian media. With the outreach that Real Rock Radio is planning, many people will be tuning in to listen to this station on a regular basis. The Morning Stretch with Tracy Yohe (our live, local morning show) has already been a hit with many listeners on a previous traditional Christian radio station.

We have many ways in which people can listen!
Technology is moving F-A-S-T and Real Rock Radio IS the future.
Real Rock Radio
can be heard on these formats:

Don’t be left behind with “traditional” radio advertising — go where the people are!

“The Internet is the future and if traditional radio stations don’t change with the times and utilize this technology, they’re going to miss out.”
– Radio World (industry publication)

Audio 4-Cast shares the following news and facts from 2010:

August – In August Bridge Ratings gave us more interesting data on Internet radio’s audience, using Nielsen’s PRIZM lifestyle groupings to establish listening patterns among certain lifestyle groups. Not surprisingly, it’s the young, urban, educated and trend setting groups that are fueling adoption of Internet radio in the US.

September – September brought some interesting data on mobile music listening. According to eMarketer, 21.7 million listen to mobile music now and that number will grow to more than 52 million by 2014. comScore had the number even higher, with info showing that 234 million Americans ages 13 and older used mobile devices during the 3 month average period ending in July, 2010 and close to 34 million (14.5%) of them listened to music on them.

October – In October I wrote that Pandora had recently announced that they had 65 million registered users, a number that increased 8% in three months. In the same post I noted recent words from Pandora’s Tim Westergren who pointed out that all of Internet radio is just 3% of radio listening right now while 90% is to broadcast radio. That, says Westergren, is where Pandora’s growth will come from.

November – In November Clear Channel announced a new partnership with Toyota to put their iheartradio streaming platform in cars, a first for broadcasters moving to work with car manufacturers to create streaming radio opportunities for their platforms in ways similar to Pandora/Ford. Live365 rolled out a new platform Athena 365, targeting women, and RadioTime put their tuner on Google TV.

December – In December we learned, from Coleman Insights, that some folks just prefer to listen online – of the 17% of the population that is streaming monthly, 48% say they don’t listen to any over the air radio. The report emphasized that listeners are not shunning AM/FM radio as much as choosing a preferred platform for listening, making it critical that broadcasters view all of their distribution technologies as equally important. There are indications that that is the case – BRS Media reported that more than 75% of broadcasters who featured Christmas music were doing so online.

In his article, “The Future of Internet Radio,”
PC Magazine writer John C. Dvorak writes:

“The key to understanding Internet radio is the fact that it can exactly mimic transmitter-based terrestrial and satellite broadcast radio in terms of content and style. Internet radio has three huge advantages over transmitter-based distribution, which will absolutely spell the eventual doom of traditional radio.— Will the success of Web radio spell the end of traditional broadcast radio? Here are some points to consider:

REACH By its nature, the Internet can distribute the “signal” or show around the world to every nook and cranny. And it can do it while providing high quality at each locale.
ON DEMAND Because the product has to run through servers anyway, there is an on-demand aspect to Internet radio that cannot be duplicated by transmitter-based radio without the use of ancillary TiVo-like equipment. And there are no such devices available. Internet radio can stream in real time or be obtained on demand as needed. You can listen to what you want when you want. This is a big competitive advantage.
LOW COST The death blow, though, always comes down to money. The expense of streaming over the Internet is a fraction of what transmitter-based broadcasting costs. There is no big antenna, no transmitters, no special studios. Nothing within reason can change this metric.
This same argument could be made about TV, with IPTV being the future of TV distribution. Internet radio will pioneer this transition of media to the Net, if for no other reason than it got a head start. So, you have to wonder: When will the last terrestrial transmitter get turned off? Well, this sort of thing never happens overnight, but certainly by 2020.

Radio News Online had this to say:

Bridge Ratings’ projections for mobile phone audio audience size by 2015 could reach 40 million. This compares with our estimates for terrestrial (274M), satellite radio (25M) and HD radio (5M).

Traditional radio companies are finding insufficient resources for the type of development of new media content and strategies needed to transition with its future audiences who today are between 10 and 24 years of age.

Why Internet and Smartphones?

Total Internet advertising surpassed that of traditional radio in 2008 and Internet radio advertising will show 12-20% growth this decade, traditional radio companies should see the benefit of fully developing compelling Internet radio content and highly trained sales forces.

Their mission, should they decide to accept it, is to invest in and develop brand content for mobile media such as cell phones. It is clear from these Bridge Ratings’ statistics that Internet radio’s ROI potential is on much firmer ground for the future and should be developed and sold aggressively.

Did you know?

A sponsor’s message heard through the lens of Christian radio is perceived by the listener as being more reliable than other forms of advertising on commercial radio stations?

What other radio listener turns on the radio expecting to hear a message that will inspire or change their Life?

Why be a sponsor on Christian Radio?

Loyalty to their station
Loyalty to YOU — the sponsor
71% of the Contemporary Christian audience is in the all-important 25-54 media-buying demographic.
60% of the Contemporary Christian audience is women, who primarily make the buying decisions.
According to Simmons Research, 72% of Christian radio listeners prefer to buy from a business that advertises on Christian radio. No other radio format can command this loyalty and respect from their listeners! It’s that simple. What this translates into is a growing list of businesses who believe in Christian radio as a valuable way to introduce themselves to an important demographic audience — cost effectively! While other radio formats have struggled financially over the past decade, Christian radio continues to grow. Thus, the picture becomes clear…     TRUST  + LOYALTY = SATISFIED LISTENERS AND SPONSORS

Why do we say loyal?

Christian radio listeners are a fiercely loyal audience. So committed and loyal, in fact, that they are continually sending in DONATIONS to support them. Just think about that! What other medium that accepts sponsorship spots have you ever heard about that receives supporting donations from its audience?
When they hear your spot on THEIR station, you become, in their minds, “part of the family.” Because you are supporting them, they feel a strong inclination to support you. If there is a choice to be made for a specific need they have, they will tend to choose you first. This is true, of course, provided your products or services are not in conflict with their beliefs. We love being out in the community, meeting our listeners and encouraging them in their relationship with God.

How much does it cost?

Real Rock Radio advertising packages are available to fit almost any budget.

YOU WOULD BECOME PART OF A TEAM of people who are a positive influence in the community.

It is a cost-effective way to market your product or service to our loyal listeners who support our station and our sponsors.
